This old furniture piece was given to us by our neighbors. We decided to restore it for an art supply hutch – we stripped the pale yellow paint, sanded it, re-molded the frame, stained and finished it with a concrete work top. It was quite the process but well worth the time. Apparently this piece originally resided in the house we are in (by other artists)…then moved to our neighbors…and now back to us!

Finished today! j+a

This oil painting was inspired by an African Engine found in the Ndola train yard in Zambia, Africa. I traveled to Africa in 2008 as part of a large missions trip to Northrise University. I had the opportunity to run around the local train yard and shoot pictures of some amazing freights. Being held at gun point was a little scary but we talked our way back to safety. Walked away with amazing reference shots for future paintings + an Ndola railroad-tie souvenir! Enjoy-
